2012 Meeting Minutes:

January 21, 2012  Meeting Minutes

The January metting was called to order by President Mike Cruse at 10:40 on Jaunary 21,2012 at Surdyke Motorsports in Festus, MO.  The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. MIke thanked everyone for attending today. Mike informed the group that Perry Arnold, our State Embassator was supposed to join our meeting today, but was unable to attend.  Mike said Perry informed him that there was going to be a State Ralli this year and they were going to combine the Ralli & Barbeque all together for a Missouri State Ralli/Missouri State Starbeque and it was going to be in Branson, MO and that there would be several chapters attending not just from Missouri but also from Arkansas, Illinois, and other states.  Perry is to find out more this weekend on all the details and the date for sure and let Mike know.  It is believed to be in June.  They are also having a meeting on February 12th in Lebannon, MO and every one is welcome to come.  It is designed to let everyone introduce themselves to other chapters and get to meet the other Presidents, Vice Presidents, etc.  It is supposed to be at a Western Sizzlers Steakhouse.  This is all tenative at this time and Mike is to get a call from him tomorrow to let him know all the details on this and he will let us all know.  At this time we are experiencing some problems with our website and our computer Guru Jim Ferguson is going to be looking into this for us.  If any one is having problems, please let "Ferggie" know and offer him lunch and he will be more than happy to look into it for you. Hint: He likes the Blue Owl.  So for the meantime, if there is something important to get to all the members Peggy Cruse, our LOS Representative, will call each of us.

Vice President Kathy Boone:  Mike then turned the meeting over to Kathy. She had come up with the idea for X-Mas this year for all of us to buy a toy a month, does not have to be expensive, around $5.00 each and nothing that takes batteries.  Just put aside each month at your house for us to give to the Childrens Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House has a store set up that opens the first part of December for the family members that are staying at the house, due to their child being in the hospital, to go into the store one time and pick out something for all their family members, whatever it be for a child or adult.  Don Mullins suggest we lean more towards the children instead of the adults and this was agreed on by the group. Avon is a large donor of this event. We could deliver these toys around November 17th and maybe all go to breakfast first. We voted by a show of hands and all was in favor of this idea.  If we go up as a group to deliver these to the Ronald McDonald House they said we would all be able to take a tour of the house. We will vote later on to choose the Children's Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.  We also voted on the X-Mas collection for the Ozark Food Pantry and all was in favor again this year.  Also voted in favor to have our X-Mas Party this X-Mas at the Old Band Building in Festus around December 8th or 9th, 2-6 pm. Kathy will call and see what date is open and make our reservation and let us all know.

Sergeant at Arms: Dennis Ottman has nothing at this time.

LOS Representative:  Peggy Cruse works with the Girl Scouts and last week she played Juliet Lowe and worked with the older girls and they wanted to know more about what our chapter does for the community.  She explained to them what we all do and they were really excited and also decided to collect for the Ozark Food Pantry. Peggy has a box from them to deliver.  Peggy mentioned Birthdays this month:  Judy Mullins and Ed Amicks were on the 18th.  Also coming up on the 23rd is Sandy Moore and Jerfeshan Kaiser. Peggy suggested we start thinking of going to visit other chapters in Missouri or Illinois.  That way we get to meet new people.

Star Vet Representative:  Donald Mullins told of the St. Louis area working on a Welcome Home for the Veterans of Iraq.  There is to be a parade and he thinks it is around the 28th of January and he imagines you would have to sign up to be included.  He has no other information to add at this time.

Secretary: Georgia Amick was nominated into this position in November and was so nervous about taking notes, she purchased a tape recorder, to catch all she did not get to write down.  And this actually worked out very good.  No minutes were taken in December, so nothing much to tell at this time.

Treasure: Donald Kaiser informed the chapter is financially sound. ( Amounts were stated to the chapter).

The rental cost is $50. It was decided that everyone who attends will pay $5 per person/$10 per couple. Any money collected above the rental cost will be donated to the Chapter Treasury. Kathy suggested that we do a "soup & salad" potluck. The Chapter will provide the coffee pot, coffee, creamer, sugar/sweetner and paper products.

MO State Director, Lee Lash, announced that there will be a Show-me Rally planning meeting for the Chapter Presidents on the last Sunday of the month. He asked if anyone had any questions about changes that have been made in the Charter. No questions were posed. He shared information that it has been strongly suggested that the Chapters incorporate.

Cookbooks: Cookbooks were not sold at the last rally because there were not funds available to cover the cost of printing the books. It was suggested that the Chapters send in money to cover the cost of printing. Another suggestion was to take orders prior to printing and use these funds to cover the printing costs. This issue will be discussed at the planning meeting later this month.

Brenda suggested that perhaps some of the money that is donated to other charities might be better spent on things like this, since the proceeds from the sale of cookbooks will go to Feed The Children.
